Dwarves: Relationship with the All-Father

Dwarves: Relationship with the All-Father

Original: The sons of Thurin have 4 classes available to them. Warrior, Priest, Crusader, and Prelate.

Knowing their relationship to Thurin and his to the All-Father I can see somewhat how Dwarves "could" be crusaders and prelates. But it would be helpful if ther "Lore" section addressed this. I know their history noted the Priest of Thurin, sounds as if there is a religion associated with Thurin.

Since the Dwarves are not born I would think they would have a more "working" relationship with Thurin and the All-father. Hell some of them may have witnessed them in events before the turning.

So I am thinking that Crusaders and Prelate Dwarves would possbily seek that class out of a respect for the All-Father? Possibly out of respect for his friendship with the Shaper?

Any Ideas on this?

Answer: While most spiritually inclined Dwarves become Priests of Thurin, many also follow the All-Father, becoming Prelates and Crusaders. The Dwarves hold (and have always held) the All-Father in VERY high esteem (Thurin is, after all, perfectly willing to lose a hand for Him, so He's just fine in their book). Since their re-emergence after the Turning, lots of Dwarves have joined the ranks of the Holy Church.

One other thing - the race descriptions as we have them aren't entirely clear when it comes to religion - the "Patrons" listed are typically the most common God venerated by the race in question, but there can be many exceptions. One race doesn't worship just one God - that's really limiting. Look at RL humanity for example!

Specifically, about the Centaurs - they DO worship the All-Father. A lot. Perhaps not as much as they worship their father Kenaryn, but He's a very close second. In fact, the Centaurs went to war with the Deathless Empire (a war that devastated them) for the sake of the All-Father's honor. Most races are going to venerate the All-Father as lord and master of the Gods, and worship their progenitor God as well. Elves are the most obvious exception (although there are some who've left their wicked kin to serve the Holy Church, they are a distinct minority - the relic of an earlier Age).
