Religion: The Gods and Archons

Original: I have read just about everything there is to read on the website as far as legends and history go. I still have a few questions:

What exactly are archons?

How big are gods?
I mean, the All-Father must've been enormous since he put the dragon in a full-nelson or whatever, but his best bud Thurin...he must've been a considerable amount smaller since he was able to go anywhere that the dwarves could go.

Before the creation of time, how did they refer to past events? If someone had just left, what would they say? He left 5 minutes ago, 5 seconds, 5 anything....

Oh yeah, and it was stated I believe in the Elves "Their Lore" section that they were immortal. I don't think they were really immortal since they could die. Immortal in the sense of naturally, yes.

I'm so confused...

BTW people...please don't flame me and say I misread or didn't read it all. People all have different capacities for retaining amounts of information that they read. Mine probably aint so good. Instead of flaming me, try and help by answering the questions.

Answer: Happy to answer:

1) Archons are immensely powerful beings from outside the boundaries of the World and Universe: much more powerful than mortals, but less powerful than Gods or Demi-Gods. Spirits of Light and Law, they generally do the All-Father's bidding, and many of them are aspected towards one particular concept (Strength, Peace, Grace, Justice, etc.). Basically, think of them as angels and you won't be far from the mark.

2) Gods are however big they decide they need to be at any given moment. Yeas, the All-Father needed to be titanic when he fought the Dragon, but he also rested and recuperated in the palaces of the Elves (and got at least one of them pregnant, if legends are to be believed). Thurin tends to stay near Human size most of the time, but the rest of them manifest as best suits their needs in the moment.

3) Before Time began, such distinctions (even saying somebody had "just" left) had no meaning.
Things happened. The participants in events all agree that they even happened in a given order, but would have a hard time putting that order into words. It was like Dreamtime... Human minds, fashioned after Time began, really can't grasp the concept very easily. The Centaurs have forgotten what that Age was like, and the Dwarves... they honestly never noticed much of a difference.

And yes, I suppose it is more technically true to say that Elves in the Age of Twilight were blessed with infinite longevity instead of absolute immortality. The Elves of that Age could be killed (and boy did they find out the hard way!), but never aged, as there was no Time. They did change, moving from infancy to adulthood, but again, the particulars are impossible to describe. Since Time began, Elves have been succeptable to old age (until the Turning, at least), and very few true immortals are left.

Thanks for reading all the lore! More is coming...
