Elements: Spirit

Spirit: The Element

From a lore perspective, I can give you a pretty exacting definition.

There are a few basic camps. Most Magi and sages believe that the universe consists of five basic elements - earth, air, fire, water and... you guessed it - Spirit.

Spirit is that essential undefineable quality which, when mixed with the other elements, creates living things. Most beings are assembalges of all four elements, in different proportions, mixed witrh Spirit.

Some things have fewer elements - elemental, for example, consist of a single element given thought and will with spirit.

Depending on which faction you want to listen to, there's either a finite amount of Spirit in the universe or not. Some believe the All-Father infused the dead Universe with spirit (just as he did when he awoke the world tree from the frozn twig), while others believe that Spirit is unbegotten - like the other elements, it ebbs and flows.

The druids speak of a great cycle, with Spirit infused into creates that live, die and are reborn. Some shudder at the sight of Shades, wondering if some other force might somehow be tainting the reserves of cosmic Spirit...
