Humans: Races of Humanity

Humans: Races of Humanity

Original: Regarding the Human lore which was released today. Will there be separate lore released for the 6 races of humans? (7 if you include the Anomani). I particularly would like to hear about the Invorri, Torvalds children.

Also regarding these 7 races, this might be on the "taboo" list, but if we select our race to be Human, Half Giant, or Shade (Perhaps Aelfborn too) will we be able to also choose our "subrace".....for example, Invorri, or Horwathi.

The 7 different races of Humans all seem very different and diverse. I think being able to tell which race someone is either by title, or better yet by physical appearance would definately add to the game (skin complexion, hair colour, physical attributes.....just like "real world" races).

I would love to be recognised as being an Invorri Human or Half Giant, even if it is only in title.

Answer: The whole reason I invented the various races of Humanity in the first place was to account for all of the variations in skin tone that players can choose from when making a Human. Like the Elvish distinctions (which arose for the same reasons) these differences are in name only - as of yet there are no stat or skill mods based on sub race. Just give yourself pale skin and blonde or red hair and you'll be an Invorri - it's up to other players to recognize it, tho.

As for separate Lores for each Human nation - yowzah! Is ten race lores not enough? Just kidding. The other races are on a bit of a back burner right now - there's enough to do making all of the Building assets for player cities, three stages each, plus some racial variants. If I were to ask for five more versions of each (more than 40 new buildings!) I'd get lynched.

But, we may get the chance to visit Tariponto or Irydnu in the future, as new worlds open and new expansions get released. There's good reason to wait on the lores for the other nations until then, and let them remain mysterious foreigners for now.

The Northmen have had the most to do with the evolving backstory up to now, and their lore would be the easiest. I wouldn't be surprised if Northman history did get written up before too long. I've got a pretty solid grounding in things Norse, and Tangent knows even more than I do.

The Amazons are also crying out for lore of their own...

But that's another story.
