Malorn the Just

A Crusader of the Holy Church who left the Church to fight by Cambruin’s side during the War of Tears. Obsessed with Justice, he founded the Temple of the Cleansing Flame after the Turning, and wages a tireless holy war to avenge the High King. He holds Cambruin’s Crown in trust until a rightful heir to the throne can be discovered. The Temple of the Cleansing Flame has canonized Malorn, naming him Saint Malorn.

According to the Temple of the Cleansing Flame: "Saint Malorn the Just, Kindler and Keeper of the Flame" is the founder and greatest patron of the Church of the Cleansing Flame and through him Confessors can work mighty miracles of fire, smiting the unrighteous and unholy, or keeping shadow at bay. Malorn was one of the Shining Companions of King Cambruin and was standing by the High King when he was treacherously slain. During the act of the Turning, Malorn called forth flame from the blade of his mighty sowrd and slew the High King’s assassin, the Betrayer. Loudest in his mourning and staunchest in his reverence of the High King's memory, Malorn founded a sect devoted to avenging the dead king and redeeming the world, the Temple of the Cleansing Flame. Malorn is revered as first among the Blessed Saints by the worshippers of Flame. (See Temple of the Cleansing Flame, Confessor and Templar)."

Note that according to the Werewolves, there were only two companions with the High King Cambruin that night of the Turning. According to the Werewolves, they saw three fight twenty. They saw the veteran, the Old One (presumably Gerriant the White) fall. They saw Cambruin’s other companion, the Betrayer lift the Sword. They saw the dull red glow in his eyes, a twin to the gleam of that dark blade. They saw the Betrayer drive it through his liege lord’s heart, pinning him to the Great Tree and dooming the World. They saw the Betrayer scurry off into the shadows, as the blood of an angel soaked into the Earth.”
