Meridian: Post Release

Meridian: Post Release

Yes, Meridian is still employed by WP.

(and no, he hasn't learned to spell yet, either!)

As to whether or not anyone cares, that's a different issue.

First up, I'd like to apologise for not being more present or more vocal in the past few months. They've been a roller-coaster for me. Had a pretty major death in the family back in April, and my life outside of WP has still not recovered from that. Also, my work load has steadily increased - I've been doing all sorts of things, which only occasionally had anything to do with lore. The trials and tribulations of the Event Team took me to the edge of burnout, and beyond. Hasn't been a fun summer for me (but summers, somehow, rarely are - maybe if I lived in Michigan I'd be depressed in the winters). Hmmm...

But hopefully, as of this week. all of that can begin to change.

Enough about me - as to your specific question, Kold, as to the purpose of these forums: they were intended for lore-based discussion. I think they were crerated with the intent that I'd have two or three hours a day to give responses and stay engaged... I've dropped the ball in that regared, but will try to do better.

As for asking for more lore support in game, don't worry - nobody is more aware than I how little lore support there is in the game. The rush to release left a lot of dreams trapped out there in the ether. The time has come to make some of them real.

The requests for more lore support began right after we went live - we heard them initially, and we haven't forgotten them. Ubiq, Dreadflame, and I have several ideas on where we can begin to impliment some serious changes.

For those still paying attention, the last month or two have seen a shift away from performance-based technical patches to CONTENT patches - new zones, new features, new weapons. The new desert zone had exactly some revisions made to it based on test-server feedback, and several of them were entirely lore-based.

Now that new zones are coming in, one of my goals (as one of the guys doing the world building) is to bring more of the lore into the landscape. As in all things, I'm unlikely to get everything I want, but even if I get a few things, the game world will suddenly be a much richer place.

So, I hope that answers some of your questions. Now, I think I'll go answer some specific lore questions as a bonus!
